How to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce from Powdered Tomatoes

homemade pizzaFood storage isn’t just about emergency preparedness, although that certainly is an important part of it. My food storage saves me time and money because I always have everything I need to make a meal from scratch. With all the awful additives in most foods on the grocery store shelves, I love having an option to make as many of those things at home as I can.

Pizza night is a frequent occurrence at our house. We’ll often make our pizza from scratch so we can customize it the way we want to and it saves quite a bit of money doing it this way. Store bought pizza sauce is filled with junk. Just look at the ingredients next time you are in the store. You probably can’t pronounce half of them.

I use Thrive tomato powder to make pizza sauce from scratch and it tastes a lot fresher than anything you can buy. Thrive tomato powder has one ingredient – tomatoes. You can smell the tomato flavor when you open the can so it’s perfect for this.

This will keep in the fridge for about a week and you can make it ahead of time to save prep time when you are making dinner. I think the flavor improves after a night in the fridge so I really prefer to make this ahead of time but it’s super simple to do if you need to make it that night.

  • 1/4 cup Thrive Tomato Powder
  • 3/4 cup of warm water
  • 1/2 TBSP italian seasoning
  • 1/4 TSP garlic salt
  • 1/4 TSP white pepper

Mix the warm water into the tomato powder. Stir until it’s nice and smooth.

Since there’s nothing added to the tomato powder, you can season this anyway you like. I like to stir in 1/2 tbsp italian seasoning, 1/4 tsp garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp white pepper.

Play around with a bit and make it to fit your family’s needs.
